Sleep and Chronic Pain

What is sad about chronic pain is that it can cause sleep disorders. To make matters worse, not sleeping well can increase the symptoms of chronic pain. It is a vicious cycle that needs to be broken. I am an advocate of effective sleep, even though I myself don't get sufficient sleep.

Take, for instance, last night. I was up every other hour with a crying child. Today my body aches all over. I have a headache, upper back pain, and my arm hurts. Ibuprofen will help me with the symptoms, but if I had just been able to get 7-8 hours of sound uninterrupted sleep, I'd be feeling much better today.

So, this begs the question...what do parents of infants and young children do to get sleep?
